John Edward Fortier, 64, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away October 5, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg, Bethlehem, PA.
Born in Teaneck, NJ, he was the son of the late Richard and Jean Marie Carson Fortier. John graduated from Ridge High School in 1977, and later owned and operated his own tiling business for 30 years. Most recently he was employed at Construction Specialties, Inc. in Lebanon, NJ. He was talented at anything he wanted to do and made lasting friendships everywhere he went. John would always be there helping others, he was compassionate and had a very warm heart, and a fantastic sense of humor. He enjoyed keeping busy with woodworking, gardening, finding new projects around the house, and traveling with the camper to visit family and friends, with our dogs.
Surviving are his significant other for the past 13 years, Patricia Wagner; John’s daughters Nichole Fortier Young and husband Skylar, and Leslie Fortier; ex-wife Heather Fortier; sisters Karen Martin and husband Al, Lisa Slifko and husband Corey, Cheryl Fortier and husband Rick Horan; brothers Rich, Jim, Tom, Bob and wife Dawn, and Ken and wife Elisabet; and nine nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are Patricia Wagner’s sons and family, who John considered family: Rocco Bravoco and wife Kerry and their son, Joseph Bravoco and wife Olivia and their son, as well as Patricia’s 3 sisters Joan Stults and husband Mark and her 3 children, Nancy Carita and her 3 children, and Claire Gavornik and her 5 children and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 12-5 PM at Whispering Pines at Holland, 971 Milford Warren Glen Road, Milford, NJ,08848. Friends and family are welcome to come and spend time together.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project, or Veterans Multi-Service Center, per John’s wishes.
