Gwendolyn L Baer, 81, of Muncy, passed away Saturday morning, November 19, 2022, in Muncy Place, where she resided for the past year. Formerly she resided in Florida with her son Tim.
Born November 15, 1941, in Bloomsburg, she was the oldest child of late the Kimber and Ruth Yohey Roat. She graduated from Central Columbia High School with the class of 1959. She then attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing graduating with the class of 1963. Gwen worked as a Registered Nurse. The majority of her career was at the Muncy Valley Hospital with over 25 years of service. Gwen was of strong faith; she was raised in the Methodist Church and later became a Baptist. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horseshoe Beach, Fla. She was fondly known as “Momma Baer” to many. Gwen was a very proud and devoted mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her 4 children: Butch Baer and wife Marsha of Muncy, Michelle Fischer and husband John, of Hughesville, Mike Baer and wife Erin, of Gardiner, Montana, and Tim Baer of Suwannee Florida. Six grandchildren: Crystal Hecknauer and husband Bobby, Bradley Fischer, Jason Baer, Ellis Baer, Bridger Baer, and Kinley Baer. One great-grandson, Rowan. Sisters Carol Roat of Bloomsburg, and Kay Whitenight of Florida.
A special thank you to all the staff at Muncy Place for the love and care they have provided Gwen over the past year.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home and Pennsylvania Cremation Services.
