Alfred Sancho, 91, died on Friday morning, March 22 at home in Macungie, PA where he resided for over the past 5 years. He previously lived in Cape Cod, MA and South Windsor, CT. Born October 13, 1927, he was the husband of Joyce A. (Healy) Sancho who predeceased him by one month on February 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents Francis and Isaura (Vasquez) Sancho, and a brother Edward who died as a toddler in 1934.Surviving are a daughter Gail Carlson and husband Alan of Macungie, PA, son Scott and wife Diane of South Carolina, and a daughter Linda Keenan and husband Ronald of Nevada. As an only child, Al also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 5 great grand-children.After returning from enlistment in the Korean War, Al met his future wife at a camp where he was a counselor and she was visiting her mom who worked there. Upon completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees, he worked throughout his life in education. First, as a history teacher in East Hartford, CT, and then as an elementary principal and Board of Education administrator for East Windsor, CT. Upon retiring, not wanting to be idle, Al worked for the Salvation Army as the director of counseling services, in Hartford, CT and then as a security officer for an independent/assisted living facility on Cape Cod.Our dad was caring, fun, and appreciative of all his family. Following both parents’ wishes, a memorial service is being planned in September on Cape Cod which held special memories for them.
